Holiday Mantel Decor

Today’s post is one I am seriously in love with.. back when my apartment flooded in August, I had the option of staying put + going through the necessary repairs or moving a few floors up to an identical unit, except this one had a fireplace. I opted to move rather than live in a disorganized mess for several weeks, and secretly was most excited about that fireplace/mantel situation come holiday. Fast forward just a few months later now, and if you follow me in any capacity, you know how obsessed I am with my fireplace. Kris and I have spent quite a few cozy nights in with the fire crackling, movie on, and a cup of soup or homemade pizza to enjoy.

It came time to decorate for Christmas a few weeks back and I realized this was my first mantel to ever decorate. I knew I wanted to keep things neutral with a few pops of red here or there.. so turned to my trusty and favorite home destination, World Market. I mixed and match some new pieces with pieces I already have from them and am obsessed with how it all came out. Confession: I love this room so much that I have only actually worked in my office 2 days in the last month – I find myself wanting to sit on the couch with this cozy scene in front of me!

There’s a little bit less depth space in this unit than my other one since the fireplace juts out, but I am able to easily fit my ottoman in the middle of the room. It’s sitting atop this new Annie Selke rug, which I’m also obsessed with. I layered my faux cowhide rug from World Market to keep a flow between the living area and dining area.

I’ve decorated and redecorated this little space countless times over the last few weeks.. and each time come to love it more. I love rearranging the pieces depending on what mood I’m in, who may be coming over, or if I want bright whites vs. warm tones.

I grabbed this gold cart at World Market to use as a little snacks/cocoa cart for the holiday season. My sisters are coming over this weekend and are already asking if it’ll be all set up! (yes, it will!) I stocked it with holiday popcorn, cookies, and some sweet treats. It’s the perfect size to fit right in next to my mantel too, or push over next to the couch to have within reach for movie time.

I originally had this straw basket with white birch logs on the right side of my mantel when I first decorated, but recently moved it over to the left and love how it sits next to the tree. I grabbed a few fur pillows to huddle around the tree this year, along with some battery operated candles because I love the cozy glow they give.

For the actual mantel area, I purchased this beautiful gold mirror. I have vaulted ceilings in this unit, so wanted to accentuate that with some height here on the mantel. I also ordered these skinny wooden houses and gorgeous white trees to use – my mantel isn’t too “deep” so I needed to keep things small and tall! Of course I finished it off with some flocked garland, string lights, and pretty glittered pinecones to bring things all together.

I just love how cozy and warm this entire space is – created on a budget (using pieces I had and pulling in a few new) to have the ultimate holiday atmosphere. I recently found out we’re getting our first actual World Market location here in CT and I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing considering I just love each and every piece of theirs!
