Fall Decor in the New House

I am soo excited to share this with you guys – I’ve gotten pretty settled in the house but haven’t really ‘styled’ or ‘decorated’ much.. more so just put things in a place to make it all look nice + like home! So getting the house ready for fall is really the first time I intentionally took time to decorate and I had SO much fun!

My best friend and I went shopping at Homegoods + Michaels last week and I picked up a few things.. but by the time I got home and started putting everything together, I realized I needed a little bit more to pull it all together so I headed back out to Homegoods, Michaels, and Target. I LOVE how it all came together, and also love love the deep wine color I focused on. My space is pretty neutral, and I’m looking forward to bringing in more color with seasonal decor throughout the year to spice things up!

I’ve linked as many things as possible throughout the post + if something wasn’t online/available, I linked the most similar thing I could find!

I really wanted to use cotton this year to give a natural/organic kind of vibe to my decor + muted colored for the pumpkins (instead of bright orange). These are all actually fake wooden ones – don’t they look real?!

Michael’s has a ton of cotton bunches and wreaths for super cheap and I used those all over the house to decorate or fill in little spots with something more autumnal.

a few decorating tips

I LOVE how the mantle turned out – I mixed pieces I’ve had for awhile with a collection of new pieces. Quick tip: sometimes the pieces you don’t think you’ll use, you end up using! I put everything out on the floor in the living room that I had (both fall and just ‘general decor’) and worked on putting it all together. You need to be able to see everything laid out in order to create something beautiful! Don’t think you had to go spend an arm and a leg on tons of new things either – utilize what you already have and maybe go pick up some new things, fillers, etc. I scored a lot of these things for 60% off at Michael’s last weekend!

Like I mentioned above, I’m bringing in color with seasonal decor and things, and really wanted to do a deep red/purple-ish hue this year. I found the middle lumbar pillow at Target and then built the rest of the couch around that! I used two of the pillows from my collection and then snagged some others to fill in + found the throw at Homegoods (but similar one here!)

And while we’re at it, here’s my entry table! I loved how the bucket with fall pieces (cotton, leaves, etc.) came out for the mantle so I got another one at Michael’s and filled it up! The little piece on the left is a turkey that I’m obsessed with.. (something about little forest animals gets me!) and then a few pumpkins and things. This photo canvas isn’t going to stay there, but it works for now + I love how this space came together! Just need to find a nice long runner now for the entry. 🙂
