Happy New Year to each of you! Starting a new year is always really exciting for me – since my birthday is December 29, it always feel like a real new start turning a year older with each new year. I always have such high expectations, dreams, and goals when the year turns. This year is going to be huge (in so many ways) I can just feel it! And I am so excited that all of you get to follow along. Thank you so much from the bottom of my hear for supporting my little corner of the web. I am so grateful to be able to wake up everyday and have this space to share with you all!
I decided to dedicate my first post of 2016 to sharing a few things from my heart about myself and Style Cusp, and where we’re headed in the new year. This post may be a little different from my normal content here, but I hope you guys will read along..
1. BRING NEW AND DIVERSE CONTENT.
When I started this blog almost 6 years ago (literally insane), I shared so much more than just style/fashion. In 2016, I hope to bring that back more frequently, starting mainly with home decor and travel, with some occasional beauty, lifestyle, and even recipes. 2015 was a big travel year for me and I plan to continue that into this year – yay! Since moving into my new place, I have the freedom to decorate exactly how I want and I’m really excited to share more of that with you all as it comes together. Stay tuned for some really exciting projects that are in the works!
2. CREATE A DAILY SCHEDULE – AND STICK TO IT.
Being a blogger and working from home might look or seem glamorous, but I promise you it’s not. Some days (okay, alot) I stay in bed til almost 10am, sometimes working, sometimes not, and am so slow to get my day started. It throws everything off, and I’ve gotten into bad habits of staying up late working and other things. This past weekend, I sat down and created a detailed daily schedule for myself (starting with a 7:30am wake up call). I’ve schedule certain times in my days and weeks for specific activities, whether it’s working out, shooting for Style Cusp, or even meeting with friends. In order to be successful and really hone in one the blog, I know I need to stick to this! My Design Love Co. planner proved to be the best tool in creating my schedule, with detailed sections of each part for the day – if you guys are interested in hearing more about my daily schedule, let me know and I can create a separate blog post for that.
3. SET MINI MONTHLY GOALS.
I rarely have a huge list of ‘resolutions’, but instead I have a list of things I purpose to do or will accomplish in the new year. Part of that this year for me was to set mini goals at the start of each month – whether it’s a certain income level, finishing a decor project, a health goal (this January I’m doing the #whole30 – see my snapchat for more!), and other things like that. Referring back to my Design Love planner, there’s a section at the start of each month to write down a few goals – I’m utilizing that 100%!
4. SAY NO. AND KNOW THAT’S OKAY.
This was my biggest takeaway from 2015 and one that I know I’ll take right with me into this year. The start of 2015 saw me so overwhelmed to the point that I had a literal breakdown by April. I took on too much too fast because I was afraid of not being everywhere for everyone at every second. I always do everything at 110% and quickly found myself way in over my head. I put the breaks on and started to put myself first (in a healthy way) and it has been so incredibly liberating. This is something I am still learning and juggling, it’s a daily intention you must set. If this is something you struggle with, I highly recommend reading the book ‘The Best Yes” by Lysa Terkeurst. It is phenomenal and really changed my way of thinking.
5. KEEP A CLEAN AND FRESH WORKSPACE.
A huge reason I moved into this new place was to have a separate room as an office. I desperately needed the space! Two months in and I’m finding that it’s a room that tends to collect a lot of ‘things’. I’m about to kick off a major room design on it, so all of those things will have to find a home. Being able to work in a clean and refreshing space is really essential for me. I can’t work if I see papers piled up, boxes in a corner, cups on a table, etc. It’s distracting and I end up getting up to organize/clean and totally sidetracked. Yesterday, I cleared the area around my desk, tidied up my shelves, and completed my mainly white office with a fresh arrangement thanks to FTD Flowers. Fresh flowers instantly give a space a ‘clean’ feel if you ask me! (Disclaimer: while this side of my office is really clean, I promise you the other is not.. and that’s what I’ll be tackling the rest of the week!)
Thanks so much for reading along today and again, I’m so excited for this year and all that it holds. I’d love to hear from you guys and any thoughts you have on the new year or any of the things I’ve shared. Leave a comment below or please, email me! xx
Wow!!! Loving this office space. The desk and accessories are perfection! I couldn’t agree more, though. Learning to say no is a difficult, but important thing to do.

Hi Kylie!
Thanks for the feedback – I’m thinking of doing a roundup at the end of the month with some info, tips, and recipes I made.
I love your resolutions. I think keeping a schedule is really important to staying productive! You can do it! 🙂
