Lake Como is singlehandedly the most beautiful place I have ever been to. Italy in general blew my mind, but Lake Como was an entirely new level. In case you aren’t familiar, Lake Como is located in Northern Italy, about a half hour train ride from Milan, nestled at the food of the Swiss Alps. The lake is wishbone shaped and you can visit the different cities/towns located along its coast by water taxi. We took the train right into Como, and then water taxied over to Bellagio for the afternoon. Each town is scattered at the foot of the mountains along the lake’s shore. Once we got to Bellagio, we walked up to the Hotel Belvedere and sat out on their terrace for lunch – an absolute dream! Kait and I ended up staying there for hours, drinking wine, enjoying the view, and having memorable, endless conversation. We kept saying to each other that we just couldn’t believe we were sitting there! After lunch, we headed down to the center of Bellagio at the foot of the mountain and explored some of the shops, ate gelato, and took in the scenery before heading back to Como for dinner. We picked a local spot right in the center of town that had the most handsome waitstaff who totally spoiled us. If you visit Como, definitely make it a point to have at least a glass of wine and antipasto in Numero Nueve. Como has tons of incredible restaurants we walked past and I wish I had weeks on end to try them all!

I highly recommend at least visiting the Hotel Belvedere if you are in Bellagio/Como – you don’t have to be a hotel guest to eat at their restaurants! I also highly recommend the entire Lake Como area for a honeymoon destination. It’s romantic, beautiful, and picturesque.. and according to the locals “the secret of Lake Como is that every town is magic“.
