Motivation Monday | Making It Happen

HAPPY MONDAY, dreamers – notice I said happy, and not grumpy. How are you doing today?

Maybe you’re sitting at your desk at work, sulking behind the computer screen with a steaming cup of coffee (or worse, a cold one). If you’re a mom, you’re probably stressed that the kiddos beds aren’t made and they still haven’t eaten breakfast. Commuting? Oh gosh, don’t even remind you, because the train was a half hour late and you’re freaking out.

I get it. Monday can suck big time if you let it.

Last week, I started a new series here on the blog entitled Motivation Monday (if you missed that post, go read it!)– which really is as simple as that. Motivational, life changing, challenging, and maybe even a little too nitty gritty. I’ll probably say things you don’t want to hear – like quit complaining about Mondays all the time. It’s like I’m giving you a virtual slap, because I just don’t want to hear it anymore. And even from myself. I had to catch myself last Monday from complaining that the day was dragging, I was too tired, I didn’t want to workout, I didn’t want to prep the next days post.. and the list goes on. It’s almost like because it’s Monday, we’re all allowed to blatantly complain and talk about how awful life is.

But really, is it that awful? Do we even have the liberty to complain like we do?

There’s some food for thought. Let all that sink in. In the meantime, let’s chat about today’s motivation — I’m really building on last week’s post, so if you haven’t read that, I highly suggest you do! It was all about pursuing your dreams and how I’m pursuing mind. And then I stumbled on this quote on pinterest and just knew I had to share it.

I feel like we all hold back too much. We’re afraid to take that chance and make something happen. We’re afraid to walk out of our day job and never go back. We’re afraid to open that etsy DIY shop we’ve always wanted to. Or maybe we’re afraid to go after that promotion because we don’t think we can. But why? Time is ticking and not slowing down for us. The ‘someday’ that we all live in, is today. And while the clock spins, you’re sitting there while someone else is making it happen, or while you’re making it happen FOR someone else. How’s that for a reality check?

Phew. Ouch. It’s even a reality check for myself.

Think about all the time and energy you spend at _________ (whatever you do) – it’s a lot of time right? Dare I say…
What if you devoted all of that to making your dream happen?

Jump out of bed today and make it happen. Make something happen. If you dream about cooking dinner every single night for your family, make it happen. If you want to blog 3 times a week instead of 1 (guilty sometimes), make it happen. If you want to start your own business? Make. It. Happen.

It won’t happen someday, if you don’t make it happen now. Start building your own dream.

I’d love to hear about a dream or goal you have – leave it in the comments, or if you’d prefer, shoot me an email! Let’s support each other as we reach for the stars and never look back!
