Cusp Convo 1.4.2019 // Hello 2019!

Thoughts about saying goodbye to 2018 + looking ahead into 2019!

Well hello there, friends! Happy New Year to you all – phew 2018 is over.. we made it! I found this quote on instagram this morning + it really spoke to me:

How good is that?! I know 2018 was a hard year for a lot of us – it just seems to hit from every single angle. But 2019 is new, fresh, exciting, and HERE. Embrace it with open arms!

I’m sitting down to write this post and already know it might be a little all over the place.. so bear with me here. But I feel like there’s quite a few things I want to say/share with you guys. I don’t ever make a list of resolutions – I think it’s kind of cliche.. but rather, usually have some goals and a word or intention for the year that I like to focus on.

This year, it’s alllll about my business. I love the growth that Style Cusp has had up to now, but it’s time to take it to the next level. Behind the scenes, that’s already been happening with some changes and additions, but I realize that all of YOU readers are a huge part of that and I want to include you in the growth. You guys are why I’m where I am, which is why I want to…

+ Cultivate a greater sense of relationship and community with all of you in 2019. // Interact more, engage more, give you the content that YOU want to see. Be better at responding to messages and posting answers to your questions. Help you all engage with each other even! And, I want your input! Send me ideas, topic suggestions, content requests… anything. This space isn’t just about me shoving out content. I want it to be valuable for you guys as you take it in, which brings me to #2…

+ Create content I truly love, that’s real, in the moment, vulnerable, and against the grain. // To be honest, I’m sick of talking about the 17th sweater you have to buy. If you’ve noticed, I’ve really let up the reigns on sharing about clothes, clothes, clothes all the time. There’s SO much more to me (and life in general) than just the clothes I wear. And when I’ve shared the ‘more’, you guys have responded in greater ways than ever before. That’s what I want this space to be. MORE. More real life. More of everything. More of all the things I love: health, wellness, essential oils, clean living, home decor, recipes, family moments/days, traditions… and lots of other things like that!

Which brings me to #3:

+ Who cares. // Okay, what the heck do I mean? I mean, who cares about followers. Who cares about number of likes. Who cares if I’m going to XYZ conference. I don’t and haven’t in awhile, so why should i tailor my content to be a certain way? Marissa, rise up and share YOU. Share the messy behind the scenes. Share the Sunday dinner at dad’s. Share the Heirloom Market run with a hot mess outfit. Just share away the real stuff and who cares! I don’t want to be concerned with the numbers and likes. I have 138,000+ of you reading, watching, and engaging. If I never gain another one, I’m fine with that!

Aaaand one more thing – to get in line with this right away, I’m bringing back the ‘Cusp Convo’ posts! I’ve wanted to do this for awhile now, and with all that 2018 was, lots got put on the back burner. But, there’s no better time to start that than now.. so here we go! I’m not sure if they’ll be weekly or bi-weekly just yet, but they’re here and here to stay.. if you’re new around here, the ‘cusp convos’ are where we just plain CHAT. About a topic, idea, questions, you name it.. a great way for us all to connect, for you guys to ask questions, all the things. I picture you guys just grabbing a cup of coffee or tea, sitting on the couch and tuning in for a good little read. I’m reallyyyy excited for this, so if you guys have any questions or topics you want me to cover, then share them in the comments – please please!

I already have a hashtag for this from way back when: #CuspConvo (I am not quite sure what’s on there so Lawdddd help us + the ‘bad’ photos haha!) but you guys can follow along or use that hashtag too! If we talk about a topic or share something from the week, use the hashtag so we can all see.. more to come on that!

Wow, it felt good to get that out there. What do you guys think? Do you agree? Can you get behind it and support me in all of those things this year? I want to make this the best year yet for the whole Style Cusp brand and know it starts with small but big changes like that. I’m SO looking forward to all this year holds and can’t wait to share more with you guys. Lots of you have noticed or said there’s life and happiness back in my eyes/face, and there SURE is.

I’m excited to see/read your content for this year. Yes, kind of tiring when we see the same item (on sale or not) being shown over and over again. Love the idea of bringing back cuspconvo as its always interesting to hear what other people have to say.

I agree in that I’m not too interested in the 17th sweater to buy. I also appreciate your honesty and openness about sharing your life experiences. I like your ideas for 2019 and am looking forward to seeing what happens. ( Also your dad’s instagram is awesome!)

This sounds great! I love following you and seeing what you have to share with us. I agree that clothes seem to dominate blogger’s posts and Instagram stories/feeds. You’re wellness and home posts keep me coming back. Lifestyle bloggers are my favorite because there is so much more in life than the Nordstrom sale. Keep it up girl! 😘

Yes, lady, yessss. Real is where it’s at. Our women, and especially young women and girls, need authentic and real role models to look up to. Less super over posed photos and more of what you’re saying – real life as it is and unstaged. You deserve that and so does the rest of the world. I’m happy to help however I can and collaborate even. You’re a solid, intelligent woman so this will be great to watch and read.

I love this! I’ve stopped following several accounts because I am tired of all the clothes.. maybe not so much the clothes, but the never ending buying and “needing” something new. Last April my husband and I did the minimalism game, I read Marie Kondos book and that did change our lives! My dad was diagnosed with cancer, I went through every product and threw away everything with bad ingredients – I started with young living and I LOVE it. Our home is simplified, my brain is less cluttered and my immune system is the best it’s ever been. I do love clothes but I’m now interested in fewer better items.
    I can’t wait to see what’s ahead!

So very glad to follow and be a part of the REAL Marissa! I think for me that’s why I am on IG anymore. I am turning 54 and don’t have a desire to be insta famous. I just want to share in the lives of some people young and old who remind me of myself when I was there age…… But didn’t have the luxury of being an influencer. I find I can’t afford most of the fashion so I improvise and do it the way I can. I would much rather enjoy your life as it really is. You are blessed and I love that you know and appreciate it. I feel like more Instagram influencers have discovered that it’s the real reason we get on here. Maybe it’s a good shift for society as well not feeling like we need to have the latest and greatest but to share and appreciate what we do have. Be kind and open with our life, faith, joys and even our struggles. It let’s us know we’re all human.
