It’s been a week since my birthday, December 29th, the day that I turned 21. I’m still sitting here amazed at how blessed I am to have had such a special day. If there’s ever a day of the year that I feel closest to being a Princess, it’s my birthday. And I’m sure I’m not the only one.
With my ‘cup’cake – I don’t like regular cake!
The day started out with a delicious breakfast in bed, delivered by my boyfriend and mom, complete with an enormous shiny birthday hat that I just had to wear (so my mom said). Between us, I didn’t hate it. It brought back those days of turning 4 and 5, when things like wearing those cone shaped beauties was one of the best parts of the birthday. (minus the moments when those wretched white elastics snapped your cheeks and made you cry.) I don’t have a picture of this part of the day, but it’s more the thought that counts.
After breakfast, I got ready and headed outside with Emily to take some style shots. (I’ll post them separately) While we were shooting, LJ drove up with a beautiful bouquet of red roses. In our travels to Atlanta this week, I attempted to bring them with me, let’s hope they don’t die, ’cause they’re beauties!
After this, I was whisked away by him to a surprise little place. We went to Evergreen Walk which is a quaint assortment of little shops about 35 minutes from my house. We had a delicious late lunch at Burton’s Grill and then walked around in the shops. This was to kill time since boyfriend said we couldn’t go home yet. My response was something like “What in the world are you talking about? Why not?” I then had to be blindfolded once we did leave, for the entire ride home. This was somewhat of an inconvenience. You know, don’t want to mess up the hair or makeup deal. Thought: Come on, it’s my BIRTHDAY for goodness sake.
But when we got to our destination, boy was I pleasantly surprised!

Emily & LJ had planned a wonderful surprise party for me – at my own house! LJ was designated to get me out of the house for the afternoon while my mom and sisters prepared everything. It was wonderful! I have always always wanted a surprise 21st- and I got it 🙂 Here’s some of the shots from the night..

The birthday was simply delightful. I was surrounded by the closest people to me, who love me the most, on such an important day in my life. And you see, friends, this is the most important thing. I could not have asked for anything better! Thank you to both Emily and my one-of-a-kind boyfriend for throwing the surprise party for me! I truly felt like a Birthday Princess.
