I’ve shared before that sunset/dusk is my favorite time to shoot – really it’s my favorite time of the day. I love when the sun is just slowly lowering over the horizon and the sky is full of color and gorgeous hues. The sunsets in Maine this year were breathtaking. A few nights, the sky was a dark orangey-red hue.. ‘red sky at night, sailor’s delight’. If you aren’t familiar with the saying, it means the next day will be clear, sunny, and beautiful. My sister and I headed down to the beachy area in front of the house to shoot these photos – we have a sandy spot around the corner of the point, but this one was tucked away at the bottom of a little rocky, sandy cliff area and about 6 inches of Maine mud. If only you knew what it took to get to this spot to shoot these photos! Let’s just say my heart was beating a mile a minute that I’d make one small slip and ruin this dress forever. FYI, Maine mud (aka “sand”) doesn’t come out of anything. You’ve been warned! Thankfully, I made it through the trek and we got to shoot these photos with the horizon right behind us.
