Why you Need to Use Hyaluronic Acid

cid few weekends ago, I had the opportunity to attend the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD) Conference in Orlando with one of my favorite skincare lines, SkinCeuticals. I am very selective when it comes to what products I use on my skin, after battling with acne for over 12 years. SkinCeuticals is one of the few lines I regularly use, so when they invited to come learn more about their line and newest hyaluronic acid serum, H.A. Intensifier, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. Plus, escaping the freezing CT weather for warm, sunny Orlando? No brainer, I’m there.

What I Wore to the AAD Conference – kept it comfy in flats and threw on a long lightweight duster over my leather shorts + white tank just in case the convention center was a little chilly!

Some of my favorite SkinCeuticals products include their Clarifying Clay Mask (I use this on a weekly basis), Phloretin CF (an antioxidant vitamin C serum), and their Hydrating B5 Gel (especially love this in the summer after long days in the sun). SkinCeuticals products are skincare backed by science – meaning they go through extensive medical-grade testing and refining to make sure their products live up to their claims. In some cases, SkinCeuticals products have taken nearly 8 years to perfect before launching, ensuring the products are the best they possibly can be for clients.

We started the day touring the SkinCeuticals booth, learning about some products, finding our perfect matches, and testing out some of the serums. I played with some of my old favorites, and got to know a bit about some of the new products & how I can incorporate them into my skincare regimen.

We then headed over to the Ritz Carlton Orlando for a delicious lunch in the most dreamy scene with the late-founder Sheldon Pinnell’s wife, Doren Pinnell PhD, and some other top women in the company. Note to self: come back to the Ritz Carlton Orlando someday because it is insanely stunning!

I first started using SkinCeuticals when I first graduated college and have excitedly watched the brand launch two new skincare-changing products since. The most recent, Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier, is absolutely incredible. After lunch, I had the honor to interview Dr. Shino Bay Aguilera at the AAD Conference in Orlando to learn more about the product, how it works, why it works, and what sets it apart from any other product out there containing HA. Dr. Aguilera is one of the leading Dermatologists in the world, with a highly sought after practice in Miami, Florida.

Get the low down about Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier from my interview with Dr. Aguilar below:

What is Hyaluronic Acid?
Hyaluronic Acid is a natural moisture preserver that is naturally produced in our skin. It’s responsible for maintaining moisture levels in the skin, nourishing the skin, and improving the appearance of firmness, plumpness, and smoothness. As we age, our HA production and levels decrease, resulting in the appearance of shadows, discoloration, lines, and dullness in the skin. Hence, why we need to supplement the skin with a product containing HA.

Why SkinCeuticals Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier vs. others on market containing HA?
SkinCeuticals HA allows the skin to continue making its own HA by combatting the enzyme that tries to break down HA in our skin. Rather than just putting HA on our skin, it’s the only product on the market that help preserve hyaluronic acid content in skin. All other products on the market containing HA simply provide hydration. This is good, but SkinCeuticals H.A. Intensifier takes it a step further..

Okay, I’m sold. So when do I need to start using this product? And who should use HA?
Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier is great for the millennial generation to start using to keep up support skin’s natural HA reservoir and help maintain plumpness, elasticity, and firmness.

Ideal age?
25-34 while your skin is still naturally producing HA or to patients getting injectable hyaluronic acid fillers.

Who should use it?
EVERYONE. Everyone’s levels of HA naturally decrease with age, so get this product on your skin, and now!

How often should I use the SkinCeuticals Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier?
Every day, morning and night. HA should be the second to last product in your skin regimen, right before your sunscreen and/or moisturizer.

Thank you so much to Dr. Aguilera for taking the time to sit down & explain HA to me – for a girl that’s clueless when it comes to chemistry stuff, I think I’m a pro at HA now!

SkinCeuticals was gracious enough to send me home with my own bottle of Hyaluronic Acid Intensifier and I have been using it every single day, morning and night, since getting home. Being 27, my skin is not in an aged or wrinkly stage (obviously), but it’s the perfect time to combat the decrease in production with a product that helps support skin’s natural HA. I know I want firm, plump skin for as long as possible – and this product is going to help that!

Today’s post was created in partnership with SkinCeuticals.
