5 Must Have Handbags for Spring/Summer

5-Must-Have-Handbags

Lately I’ve really been thinking about what I actually need in my closet vs. what I have and trying to condense to just the necessities. I love to declutter but also have pieces that I keep ‘just in case’ – but never need them, and they end up just making a mess.

So what are the necessities? For all of us it’s different when it comes to clothes or shoes – depending on where you live, work, or other factors. But when it comes to handbags, the necessities are pretty standard across the board. I’ve rounded up the 5 must-have bags for this spring and summer, fit for all your activities, trips, needs, etc. Let’s break it down!

THE TOTE

The tote is a non-negotiable when it comes to handbags. You all know how much I love and use this reversible nude tote! It’s been featured here, here, here, and here. The tote is perfect for a work day, a day of errands, day trips to family’s house (I bring mine every Sunday!), and the list goes on. This Street Level tote is reversible, making it perfect to transition with the seasons or even from outfit to outfit.

THE CROSSBODY

The crossbody is another non-negotiable. These are secretly my favorite bags because they require no thought – and by that I mean, you throw it around your shoulder and you’re hands free! Crossbody bags aren’t necessarily practical for every single day use, but when you have a day trip (like to the city, sightseeing, tourist, etc), a morning to the farmer’s market, or are heading somewhere where you need to use your hands (hello, ikea!) – that is where the crossbody steps in. Every time I travel, I bring at least one crossbody with me that fits my essentials – cards, phone, sunglasses.

THE WHITE BAG

The white bag is the one trend item in this roundup. White bags are making a statement in their own way right now – and for the warmer months are 100% practical because they go with everything. Think of the white bag for spring/summer as important as your black bag for fall/winter. I suggest combining the white bag trend with the bucket bag trend! Hit two trends in one. I’ve had the white bucket bag above for over a year now and it is my summer go to. I just pulled it out this week to start using!

THE CLUTCH

The clutch is the wedding, bridal shower, and brunch staple. Buy a neutral color so it can easily transition from event to event, and one that is big enough to fit your necessities. My favorite clutches are from Gigi New York – they’re definitely an investment but 100% worth it! The quality is unlike any other, they’re flat (easily packable), chic, and come in tons of neutral and colorful shades!

THE WEEKENDER

The warmer months bring lots of last minute surprises – one of them being weekend getaways and trips, especially to the beaches. (This tote makes a great beach weekender bag!) A weekender is absolutely necessary for those mini trips that pop up to throw in a handful of your favorite suits, sunblock, flops, and a few dresses. I’ve had this weekender for a few years now and it has traveled with me to anywhere and everywhere, fitting just the right amount for weekend trips! It also works great as a carry on (I brought it to Cancun and Austin on the plane) to pack your extras and valuables.

You’re SO on point with your picks – especially since some of them are investment pieces. I love your weekender!
