Smoothie Queen

For the past few weeks, I've been wanting to try the Kale, Spinach, & Pear Smoothie that Taylor of Sterling Style shared on her blog. It sounded so refreshing and delicious, so much that I just had to try it for myself. I finally remembered to pick up all of the ingredients on a recent grocery run, and hurried home to try it. I chose to substitute a mango for the banana since I dislike that potassium-filled fruit! It was just as delicious as I had hoped it would be, quite energizing and obviously full of nutrients! It's a great smoothie to make after a long workout to give your body some nourishment before your next meal.

Ingredients:
1 packed cup of spinach
1 packed cup of kale
1 1/2 cups almond milk (I use unsweetened original or vanilla almond milk)
1 mango, diced
1 tbsp. honey
1/2 pear, sliced

Combine chopped spinach and kale along with almond milk in a blender. Blend until creamy. Add mango, pear, & honey until blended to your desired consistency. Enjoy your treat!

The kale and spinach may be a bit chunky for your liking. I plan on trying the same recipe with a juicer this week, just to see the difference. If you use the banana, the smoothie will be a bit thicker and much creamier. Or, if you're an overachiever and want to use both the mango and the banana, then you'll get the satisfaction of both yummy flavors!

Such a simple recipe, especially for most of us who are constantly on the go. Do you have a favorite smoothie or shake you make? If not, why not try this!

  8. Hello there! I am totally in love with smoothies, but being stuck in college= no way to actually make them... :(
However I am definitely planning on trying out this recipe when I get home for the summer!! Personally, I'm more of a mango-anything smoothie, so I will definitely be substituting mangoes for bananas. Thanks for the lovely recipe!!

  16. I am on a smoothie kick, almost every day whipping one up in the morning. I love the idea of mixing in greens too, thanks for the recipe. Lately I have been adding virgin coconut oil (so many health bennies) or raw honey and cinnamon. Yum! xo
